Pronombres de objeto directo with regular verbs

Direct object pronouns replace the thing or person that receives the action directly. Use them to avoid repeating the same noun again and again.

Overview

The basic direct object pronouns are me, te, lo, la, nos, los, and las. In simple sentences, they usually go before the conjugated verb.

  • Compro el libro. Lo compro. → I buy the book. I buy it.
  • Veo a Ana. La veo. → I see Ana. I see her.

Cómo/cuándo lo usamos

Replace a repeated noun

Use lo, la, los, or las when the object is already clear.

  • Tengo el boleto. Lo tengo. → I have the ticket. I have it.
  • Compro las entradas. Las compro. → I buy the tickets. I buy them.

People can be direct objects

Use me, te, nos, lo, la, los, or las for people who receive the action directly.

  • Ana me ayuda. → Ana helps me.
  • Yo te escucho. → I listen to you.

Estructura

Patrón Example Translation
subject + direct object pronoun + verb Yo lo necesito. I need it.
no + direct object pronoun + verb No la veo. I do not see her.
question + direct object pronoun + verb ¿Los quieres? Do you want them?

Oraciones.

Afirmativas

  • Lo veo todos los días. → I see it every day.
  • La compré ayer. → I bought it yesterday.
  • Nos invitaron a cenar. → They invited us to dinner.
  • Los necesitamos ahora. → We need them now.

Negativas

  • No lo tengo aquí. → I do not have it here.
  • Ella no me conoce. → She does not know me.
  • No las encontré. → I did not find them.
  • Ellos no nos escuchan. → They do not listen to us.

Forma de pregunta

  • ¿Lo quieres ahora? → Do you want it now?
  • ¿La viste ayer? → Did you see her yesterday?
  • ¿Nos llamaron? → Did they call us?
  • ¿Los compraste? → Did you buy them?
